The National Speaking of Women's Health Foundation has announced that it will close its doors at the end of 2008. As a result, the annual Speaking of Women's Health conference set for April 25, 2009 at Hanover College has been canceled.
As presenting sponsor for 11 years, King's Daughters' Hospital and Health Services remains committed to women's health initiatives in our local communities. Although no timetable has been established, the hospital is evaluating options for the development of its own event.
To the many women who've participated in Speaking of Women's Health events since 1998, we thank you for your support. We also appreciate the efforts of the Speaking of Women's Health Steering Committee and local sponsors who helped make the full-day conference a truly amazing day for women of this area. Speaking of Women's Health will live on through an endowment at Ivy Tech Community College - providing a nursing scholarship each year to a women from the Ohio Valley region. Additional proceeds from past events will also support the development of Girls on the Run in 2009.
